Job Opportunity: Pastry Assistant at HAUTE Boutique Patisserie
Join our team at HAUTE Boutique Patisserie in Lonehill (Johannesburg), where we create exclusive, modern desserts with a touch of vintage charm. We’re looking for a dedicated Pastry Assistant who has a passion for fine patisserie and an eye for detail.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in the preparation and execution of daily patisserie production, including Petit Gateaux, entremets, French pastries, and other modern desserts
- Preparing and setting up stations with necessary ingredients and equipment
- Assisting with the creation of mirror glazes, emulsions, mousses, and contemporary gateaux
- Contributing to inventory and stock-taking, monitoring ingredient freshness and stock levels
- Ensuring all baked goods are beautifully presented to meet HAUTE’s high standards
- Assisting in the maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen, including work surfaces, tools, and storage areas
- Helping with the packing and labeling of takeaway items and special orders
- Receiving and inspecting ingredient deliveries to ensure quality standards
- Assisting with experimentation and development of new dessert concepts in collaboration with the head pâtissier
- Supporting event preparations and ensuring that orders are prepared on time with flawless presentation
- Upholding hygiene and safety standards in line with health regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience in pastry and modern tarts
- Skilled with mirror glaze, emulsions, mousses, and contemporary gateaux
- Knowledge of stock-taking procedures
- Strong presentation skills for high-end desserts
- Experience working with chocolate is preferred
- Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays as needed
- Working Hours: 7 am – 6 pm
